Participate in National Leadership Conference

Local students and teachers participated in the BPA National Leadership Conference In Dallas for competition, leadership advancement and volunteer service efforts.
 
Roxanne Wavra, Glencoe, MN; Cody Uithoven, Round Lake, MN, Chai Sysavath, Worthington, MN; Seantae Read, Granite Falls, MN and Spencer Schwartz, Clarkfield, MN, all Minnesota West Community & Technical College students participated in the National Leadership Conference of Business Professionals of America in Dallas, TX, May 9-13, 2018.

  • Roxanne Wavra was awarded National BPA Post-Secondary Student of the Year; 2018 Post-Secondary Ambassador of the year & Outstanding Achievement Award, Service Learning for her many hours volunteering for Special Olympics. She also placed 4th place in Advanced Interview Skills, & represented Minnesota as a National Voting Delegate.
  • Cody Uithoven placed 3rd in Computer Network Technology, 6th in systems Administration Using Cisco & passed the Microsoft Technology Associate - Network Fundament Certification & Microsoft Technology Associate -Windows Operating Systems Fundaments Certification.
  • Chai Sysavath placed 4th in Computer Security and passed the Microsoft Technology Associate – Security Fundamentals Certification.
  • Seantae Read placed 10th in Network Administration using Microsoft.
  • Spencer Schwartz placed 5th in Network Administration using Microsoft, 7th in Systems Administration Using Cisco, 8th in Computer Network Technology, & 9th in Business law & Ethics.
  • The Minnesota West Community & Technical College, Jackson campus received the Chapter Award for Outstanding Achievement Award for Community Service.

Minnesota West students were accompanied by advisors Terri Pelzel from the Jackson Campus and Pam Jensen from the Granite Falls Campus.

The National Leadership Conference is a culmination of the hard work and effort put in by members throughout the year. It brings students from across the country together to participate, network and compete. Activities included general sessions with keynote speakers, business meetings, leadership workshops, contests, election of national officers, and tours of Dallas sights and attractions! The highlights of the conference included the annual Day of Service volunteer event, leadership development workshops and the presentation of the awards to the winners of the national contests.

Approximately 6,000 students, advisors and guests from across the United States participated in Business Professionals of America’s 52nd National Leadership Conference.
