Lacey - Nursing Alumnus

Lacey knew her passion for nursing was and is much greater than a paycheck. As a nursing student at Minnesota West she credited her instructors for not only the education and foundation for nursing she received, but the “knowledge and desire to be better.”

Lacey commented, “The skills and preparation in the education I received, especially cross-culturally, has created my passion and excitement for nursing.”

Lacey went through the PN program on the Pipestone campus and Nursing, A.S. program on the Worthington campus. She is now a RN at Sanford Canby Medical Center and has built into her life goals to also do nursing missionary work. In September, Lacey went as one of eight others across the United States as representative for “Nurses for Africa.”

While in Africa Lacey, knew that her fulfillment “was making a difference and doing right by the patient, not about money.” And she also realized the power of being a nurse and helping others. Lacey spoke about the access to healthcare and the malnourishment countries like Africa endure and how this experience relates back to how she will continue to work in the nursing field to help others.

Lacey plans her next mission work in Haiti in the upcoming year.
