Visiting students do not need to apply for admission to the college. You may enroll as a non-degree-seeking student.
The college establishes deadlines for adding, dropping and withdrawing from classes. Financial aid recipients should be aware that registration changes could significantly impact their financial aid eligibility.
Adding classes:
- During fall and spring semesters, students can add available classes through the fifth day of the semester
- During the summer, students can add classes through the third day of the term
- For classes that begin late, students can add one business day following the first class period
You can add courses to your schedule through eServices.
Dropping a course:
- Dropping a course means removing yourself from a course before or during the Drop/Add period
- Students can drop classes through the fifth day of the term
- For classes that begin late, students can drop one business day following the first class period
Withdraw:
After the Drop/Add period ends, a student can withdraw from any course prior to the withdrawal deadline.

See student calendar for add/drop/withdrawal deadlines.
Every student must apply for graduation, even if they do not intend to participate in the ceremony. Find out more about Graduation.
Preparing for a transfer can open up new opportunities for academic and personal growth.
Students considering a change of major should consult with their advisor and fill out the Change of Major form.
If they are admitted to the new program, the change will take effect in the next semester.
*Please note that admission into a new program is not guaranteed. Many technical and
career programs have limited enrollment, and students may need to complete assessment
testing or meet other prerequisites before being accepted into the program.
Students can check final grades online through their eServices account. Final grades are available five business days after the last day of the semester.
To be eligible for the Dean's list and/or honors, students must meet the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits.
- Earn 12 credits of course work with A-F grading system.
- Earn a 3.5 GPA.
Minnesota West has partnered with the National Student Clearinghouse - My Student Center to provide students with an online service where they will be able to login and print
an enrollment verification certificate. This certificate can be presented to health
insurance agencies, housing authorities, banks, etc., as verification of enrollment
at Minnesota West.
They provide an instant online verification of student enrollment and degrees to employers
and various other businesses based on an individual’s status as an enrolled student.
Student Status is defined as:
- Full-time status - 12 or more hours
- Half-time status - 6-11 hours
- Less than half-time - 1-5 hours
Note:
Students who need GPA or grades reported should request a transcript. Insurance companies often accept an unofficial transcript.
