Ribbon Cutting for Jackson Powerline Facility

Minnesota West celebrated the opening of a new indoor Powerline Technology Facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday afternoon. Members of the community, Minnesota State Representatives, and Minnesota West constituents had the opportunity to explore and experience the hands-on training that will take place in the new 7,244 square foot, $2.55 million state of the art indoor training facility.

Attendees were greeted by 40 powerline technology students situated at the top of ten 35-foot climbing poles as they entered the facility.

powerline 1A short ceremony of recognition and thanks was presented by numerous speakers, including Dr. Terry Gaalswyk, Minnesota West President, Representative Bob Gunther, Senator Julie Rosen, Brian Yolitz, Minnesota State Associate Vice Chancellor Facilities, Doug Schuett, Minnesota West Faculty Powerline Technology Instructor, and Collin Nestande, Minnesota West Powerline Technology Student. The Jackson Chamber of Commerce and all individuals present were invited to ceremoniously cut the ribbon.

Following the ribbon cutting attendees were invited to try their hand at climbing on of the poles, under guidance and direction from the instructors and students.
