Minnesota West will be awarding 81, $2500 scholarships for the Fall 2020 term. These Scholarships are targeted for Minnesota residents who are majoring in high-demand occupations in the areas of advanced manufacturing, agriculture, health care services, information technology programs, transportation and early childhood. The Workforce Development Scholarship application deadline is May 1, 2020.

The scholarships, initially funded by a $1 million appropriation from the 2017 Minnesota Legislature, are available to new students entering associate degree, diploma, or certificate programs in high-demand sectors of Minnesota’s economy at any of the 30 Minnesota State community and technical colleges. Programs that qualify for the scholarships are in advanced manufacturing, agriculture, health care services, and information technology. As an outcome of the 2019 session, the Minnesota Legislature and Governor Walz approved an appropriation that added $7 million to a scholarship program for students at colleges and universities of Minnesota State who are pursuing programs that prepare graduates for careers in high demand sectors. This action substantially expands a $1 million pilot program that initially awarded hundreds of scholarships throughout Minnesota in the 2018-2019 academic year.
