United States Marine Corp presents Athlete of the Week Honors to Minnesota West Football

Minnesota West Community and Technical College football students were presented with Athlete of the Week honors by United States Marine Staff Sergeant Tyler Daly. The Minnesota College Athletic Conference has named the following Minnesota West Bluejay football players as Athletes of the Week in the 2019 season. The award honors student athletes for their performances on behalf of their teams. The United States Marine Corps, Adidas, and Nicklasson Athletic Company sponsors the MCAC Athletes of the Week.

Nakia Guyton offensive line sophomore from Racine, WI – was part of Bluejay offensive attack that did not allow a sack, rolling Minnesota West to 499 total yards of offense and 38 points to win.

Montrez Hearon receiver sophomore from Racine, WI – had six catches for 128 yards, averaging 21.3 a grab, he also rushed twice for 13 yards and his longest catch was 63 yards for the Bluejays.

Joshua King offensive line sophomore from Atlanta, GA – recorded 3 pancake blocks to take the Bluejays to a win and provided protection for the combined 429 yards of total offense and 36 points.

Andrew Ortiz quarterback sophomore from Albuquerque, NM – was 19-of-33 for 320 yards in a winning game and tossed five touchdown passes.

Dylan Svoboda offensive line sophomore from Jackson, MN – recorded two pancake blocks and did not give up a sack in the 20-14 win. He has had no penalties against him through the course of the contest.

Brandon Wagner defensive line freshman from Omaha, NE – had two tackles for loss, resulting in 13 yards of field position in a Bluejay win, he also racked up seven tackles total in the game.
