CAP/GOWN/TASSEL

Your cap, gown, tassel, and any honors cords or PTK stole (if applicable) will be available for pick-up starting on April 20 (Monday-Thursday, 8 am-4 pm) in the Student Services Office, AFTER you have submitted the following information:

Gowns will be returned to Minnesota West at the end of the commencement ceremony – you may keep the cap, tassel, and cords.

cap iconHow to Wear Your Graduation Cap and Tassel

Caps, tassels and high honors, honor and veteran’s cords are yours to keep. Gowns are provided at no cost (along with Phi Theta Kappa stole) and must be returned to Student Services immediately after the graduation ceremony.

  • Cap: Position the cap so that one of its points is centered in the front, creating a diamond shape when viewed from above. Adjust it snugly on your head so the top lies flat against your scalp, not tilted upward or perched lightly on your hair.
  • Tassel: Begin with the tassel hanging on the right side of your face. After receiving your diploma and being announced as the graduating class, move the tassel to the left side. Keep it there until you remove your cap following the ceremony.

Student Information

Please be at the Student Services area in the Main Building a half-hour before the start time, dressed in your cap and gown. We will all line up to walk into the commencement together.
