Business Services
Fees Assessed with Tuition
The health service fee allows Minnesota West to provide a more comprehensive level of personal health and wellness services for all students who attend one of the five campuses, two locations or online. Funds from the fee will be used for personnel expenses for a college health service including mental health and basic needs. These services would be made available in person and via distance mode.
The staff member will champion a College CARE team and promote awareness and education for students, staff and faculty. This would include planning, training and implementation for crisis management and mental health awareness as well as counseling, connections and referrals for students. Referrals could rate from clinical services, school-life referrals as well as daily living referrals.
A Minnesota State College Student Association fee is assessed as authorized by Minnesota Statute §136F.22 and in accordance with Board Policy 3.7.
A parking/access fee is assessed on a per credit basis. The proceeds from this fee are used to upgrade and maintain the college parking facilities. Minnesota Statute §136F.67 requires public colleges to pay costs associated with construction, maintenance and operation of parking facilities. Students are assessed a fee per credit. Faculty and staff with a work assignment of at least 50% pay the per credit rate X 15; those with a work assignment of under 50% will pay ½ of this calculated charge.
A per credit student life fee provides for campus Student Senates activities and programs for the cultural, social, and the physical enhancement of students. Activities might include athletics, campus intramural sports and recreation, music ensembles, student leadership and development, Student Senate, theater, etc. The Student Senate sets the student life fee each year with the approval of the President.
A technology fee is also charged to students on a per credit basis. The proceeds from the technology fee are used for the acquisition, upgrading and/or maintenance of technology for academic and student support activities that provide or enhance student access to technology. Academic and student support activities include but are not limited to technology infrastructure, computer labs, wireless networks, ongoing technology support, and software licensing.
