Grants are financial aid based on need. Grants do not need to be repaid. You apply for grants by completing the FAFSA application. See what grant opportunities you are eligible for!

Alliss Educational Foundation Grant

Eligibility Criteria

    • Students must have a current FAFSA on file. The FAFSA can be completed at studentaid.gov
    • Recipients must not hold a baccalaureate (4-year) degree or higher.
    • Recipients must not be in default with a federal student loan.
    • Students must be pursuing a program at Minnesota West that can be transferred to a baccalaureate degree at another institution.
    • Recipients must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA.
    • Students must meet with a Minnesota West Student Advisor to complete a baccalaureate degree plan before receiving any funds.

Postsecondary Child Care Grant

Students interested in the child care grant must apply online through the MNAid Student Portal. Students also must complete the FAFSA or the MN Dream Act application.

Apply

  1. If this is your first time accessing the MNAid Student Portal click on the text “If this is your first time...” to create an account.
  2. Follow all the application steps. Ensure that you are entering your name, SSN and date of birth correctly. The system will use that information to match your account to the FAFSA on file for you.
  3. After Creating an Account, you will sign in with your Username and Password you just created. 
  4. Select Online Applications and choose the Postsecondary Child Care Grant Application
  5. After you apply, a confirmation of your submission screen appears and an email will be issued.

Please make sure that emails received from aid@mnaid.minnesota.gov are filtered to your inbox. Your application and eligibility will now be reviewed. Please monitor your email for updates. If you have any questions regarding your eligibility status, please contact MNAid at 651-642-0567 and select option 2.

IMPORTANT You must print your CCG Application and bring the paper application to your child care provider. Your child care provider must complete Section B of the application. You will then need to provide a copy of the completed application to the student’s college financial aid administrator using the contact information provided on page 4 of your printed application.
