Minnesota West Policies
Chapter 7 - Finance
7.3.2 Bookstore Excess Profits
Minnesota West campuses operate a bookstore for the convenience of students, faculty and staff. Sales consist of books, ancillary student supplies, clothing and novelty items and office supplies for faculty and staff. It is the desire of Minnesota West to control costs to students and therefore purchases will have only a reasonable markup to cover costs of labor and overhead.
Any accumulated bookstore profits will be used to offset the food service deficits. Any profits in excess will remain in the bookstores until such a time that cash on hand is sufficient to handle advance purchases for a semester's books/supplies needed. At that time, the excess profits will be used for such items as improvements within the bookstores, adjusting employee hours, improving student services area or general support of college activities.
