Minnesota West Policies

Chapter 6 - Facilities

6.4.3 Open Flames

Minnesota West is concerned about the health/safety of its employees. Minnesota West, as a part of a state agency, also needs to be responsible stewards of the buildings/contents owned by the state of Minnesota. Therefore, open flames of any kind are not allowed in the buildings because of the risk of fire hazard. This includes candles.

¬

Secondary to the fire hazard issue is the fragrance for those individuals that have minor irritations or allergies. This is fast becoming an OSHA issue also.

¬

Violators of this policy will be subject to discipline up to and including discharge.
