“My life long dream of starting my own preschool came true just three months after graduating from the Child Development program. I opened my own Preschool-Shining Stars Preschool. The classes really prepared me for working with children. The time spent in the lab gave me hands-on opportunities to plan and implement activities with children. The field experience was great. I had the opportunity to visit various child care settings. My internship DEFINITELY prepared me to teach preschool.

The teachers care about your work, and you actually feel like a person, not a number in the class. I came to the school not knowing a person, and in no time I felt like I knew everyone. I had a blast in this program: we had lots of fun!  It’s an awesome hands-on program that really prepares you to work in the child development field. I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in this field!”

“After completing the Child Development course, I decided to continue my education at Minnesota West and am obtaining certification as a Special Education Paraprofessional. There are so many things that you can learn in the Child Development course, both personally and professionally. Many of the things I learned have helped me at home. This course also has showed me how truly important the Child Care Provider and Educator is in everyone’s life- both for the parent and the child.

I definitely would recommend this course to others.”

“My job is as a teacher at a day care center. I am mostly with the toddler age group, but also work in the preschool and infant rooms. I do the daily chores like meals, changing diapers, activities in art, music, etc. and have plenty of FUN time to PLAY!!
The Child Development program has definitely helped me understand how and why children do the things they do and also how to provide quality child care. I am very glad I have had the education and continue to become educated to better my ability to teach and care for young children.

I would definitely recommend this program, especially if you are looking to do any type of work with children under the age of ten."

“I am working in Reno, Nevada as a full-time Nanny for one toddler. The Child Development program helped me understand children. I use the knowledge every day to provide high quality care and education for the little boy I care for.  I would recommend this program to others.”

“I am a daycare provider who is also involved with the Head Start/family daycare partnership program. Since I have been involved in daycare for over 25 years, I have found this program to enhance my field of employment. I found that I had some of the experiences talked about in the text books and assignments, but I didn’t always know the ‘why’ behind doing it a certain way. This program has helped clarify that area for me. The program has also given me a lot of new ideas to implement.

I felt very welcome returning to school, both by the faculty and the students. I would encourage anyone to try it, if only a class or two to ease yourself in. Education is never a bad investment. No matter if you’re new to the program or a veteran of the field as I consider myself, there is always room for growth. Our children need quality teachers and this program has the curriculum to make you one.”
