Minnesota West - Fairmont Center began offering courses at the Southern Minnesota Education Campus Building in August, 2006. This education opportunity, for both traditional and adult students, brings higher education right to the local community.
The Minnesota West - Fairmont Center offers students a one-stop shop with on-site staff to assist with everything from application, registration, financial aid, buying books, to applying for graduation. Students have the opportunity to complete an Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree by taking classes in Fairmont and online. Students can earn their A.A. degree and be right on track to complete a bachelor degree by transferring to a Minnesota State College and University as well as other public and private four-year colleges. Online or distance education opportunities are also available to the residents of the Fairmont area and surrounding communities.
The Fairmont community is located in the "Heart of the Midwest." Fairmont's area lakes, local Aquatic Park, and historic sites such as the Fairmont Opera House, Pioneer Museum, Sisseton Model RR display, and Heritage Acres provide a multitude of activities to partake in.
