Transfer Services:  Transfer to Minnesota West

If you are planning to transfer to Minnesota West from another institution, you should follow the transfer application procedure.

Minnesota West will evaluate the college transcripts and any prior learning (Alternative Methods of Earning Credit such as AP, CLEP, CBE, Course Test Out, IB, DSST, Military Training, School to Work) that you provide. Transfer credit will be then posted to your Minnesota West transcript.

Transfer Evaluation Appeal Process
If not satisfied with the outcome of the transcript evaluation, you may appeal by following these steps.

  1. Meet with the Transfer Coordinator to provide clarification of the transfer. The clarification process involves faculty input and evaluation of the course description. The Transfer Coordinator may require you to produce a copy of course syllabi, and may do additional research on the course in question. The Transfer Coordinator may or may not transfer additional classes after this meeting. If the not satisfied with the end result of this meeting, you may proceed to the next step.

  2. Complete the Transfer Evaluation Appeal form.  Attach supporting documentation, including a copy of the transcript from the previous institution and a course syllabus for the course in question. The initial appeal will be handled by College Administration (Provost or designee).

  3. If the appeal is denied, you may appeal the decision by submitting all documentation to the College President.

  4. If you are not satisfied with the College President's appeal decision, you may continue the appeal at the Minnesota State college and university level. Refer to Minnesota State Procedure 3.21.1 for specific appeal information. You may find it helpful to consult Minnesota State's Transfer Action Plan and the System Level Transfer Appeal form.
