August 21, 2023 – Minnesota West launched the Bluejay Bike Program initiative that addresses transportation barriers and promotes healthy and sustainable options for students and employees. This program offers a fleet of traditional bicycles that are available for free rental to Bluejay students, providing them with a reliable and convenient means of transportation during the fall and spring months.

In 2022, Linda Pesch, Director of Enrollment, played a pivotal role in securing a grant to fund the program. This grant enabled the purchase of bikes, locks, and fix-it stations for the Granite Falls and Canby Campus locations, enhancing the accessibility and maintenance of the bikes. We have since expanded our offerings to all our campus and center locations.

The program's flexibility is noteworthy, as individuals have the option to check out a bike for either a short period or even for an entire semester. This caters to various needs, whether it's for a quick trip around campus or for students who require a reliable transportation option for a longer duration.

By offering this program, Minnesota West is not only addressing the practical issue of transportation barriers that some students might face but also contributing to their overall well-being by promoting physical activity and outdoor recreation. The Bluejay Bike Program is a clear demonstration of the institution's commitment to creating a more inclusive and supportive campus environment for its students.
