Application Instructions
Start Your Online Application:
New to StarID? Click Create StarID to set up your account and continue with the application.
Already have a StarID from another Minnesota State institution? Click Login and sign in with your StarID and password. Then scroll down to the Application Process section and follow the steps. Some info will auto-fill from your Minnesota State account.
Tip: Write down or take a photo of your StarID so you don’t forget it. Use your own personal email (not a shared family email) — you’ll need access to it later.
Next Steps after you create your StarID:
Application Process – (fields with asterisks are required)
- Fill out Personal - Legal Name and Email Address
- Fill out SS# and Date of Birth – these are not required, but will help in accessing the StarID Self-Service page in the future.
- Fill out Veteran Status
- Fill out Parent Education
- Fill out Citizenship Status
- Fill out Contact - Residency
- Fill out Permanent Address
- Fill out Phone Number
- Fill out Education
- Under High School Information – select “Yes” for Are you currently a High School Student (then select “Next”)
- Fill out High School Attended Information (use June as the month and then your graduation year)
- You can Skip College/Universities attended
- Fill out Demographic Information
- Fill out Major - Application Term
- Choose the semester you will take your first course.
- Application Type - choose Post-Secondary Enrollment Option PSEO Student
- Educational Intent - choose Complete courses, but not a degree, and choose Part-Time student
- Major - Academic Program – click on Next
- Major - Application Campus
- For REACH/Concurrent Enrollment choose the bottom option
- For PSEO, choose the Campus your school belongs to
- Application Information – choose “No” (then "Continue to Additional")
- Skip this screen and choose Continue to Review
In the Application Review screen, look over the information and make sure it is listed correctly. If there are changes you need to make, you can click on the green section title at the top that is associated with that information. If everything is correct, you can click Continue to Submit Application.

Check the box next to “By checking this box, I am confirming I want to submit this
application” to confirm your submission.
Make sure you verify your StarID password, then click Submit Selected Application.
Your application is complete. Next step, you will need to go through the registration process for your classes with either your Minnesota West Advisor or High School Counselor.
