Lila and Dale Schmidt of Marshall, MN, were recently inducted into the Holaway Memorial Hall of Fame for the Pipestone Lamb and Wool Program. The criteria for selection include outstanding accomplishments in the sheep industry and valuable contributions of time and service to the Pipestone Lamb and Wool Program by individuals from education, research, or industry.

Lila and Dale Schmidt are the owners of Grandview Polypay. They are trailblazers in the sheep industry and have been members of the Pipestone Lamb and Wool Program for over 30 years.

Grandview Polypay is enrolled in the National Sheep Improvement Program (NSIP), allowing them to make data-informed decisions in genetic advancement. Their commitment to raising Polypays that produce heavy weaning weights and fast-growing lambs has made them well-respected Polypay sheep breeders, providing the genetic foundation for countless flocks across the country.

The Schmidts have always been willing to help teach and mentor sheep producers. They have generously supported numerous Pipestone Lamb and Wool Program activities, contributing significantly to the program’s success.

Their legacy will continue to inspire sheep producers and help the sheep industry move forward.

Their excellence in providing access to high-quality maternal genetics, sharing their knowledge, and providing time and support to the Pipestone Lamb and Wool Program makes Lila and Dale Schmidt very deserving inductees into the Holaway Memorial Hall of Fame. The Schmidts join 15 other inductees spanning 52 years of the Pipestone Lamb and Wool Program. For a list of previous Hall of Fame inductees, visit www.pipestonesheep.com.
