Minnesota West Announces C.J. Nelson as New Athletic Director
Minnesota West is pleased to announce that C.J. Nelson has accepted the position of Men's Athletic Director. Nelson brings a deep and longstanding connection to Bluejay Athletics, having served the institution with dedication in his current role as Athletic Enrollment Specialist, as well as through his involvement in coaching, student recruitment, and program support.
His commitment to enhancing the student-athlete experience, fostering strong relationships across campus and within the conference, and supporting the success of Bluejay teams has made a meaningful and lasting impact on Minnesota West’s athletic programs.
Nelson’s passion for Minnesota West extends back to his time as a student-athlete. Over the years, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership, strong community engagement, and a deep pride in Bluejay Athletics. Minnesota West leadership is confident that his experience, enthusiasm, and vision will continue to strengthen athletic programs while supporting the growth and achievement of student-athletes both on and off the field.
When reflecting on the opportunity, Nelson shared his enthusiasm for stepping into the new role.
“When I saw the Athletic Director position open at Minnesota West, I viewed it as an exciting opportunity to continue growing in my career while building on the success of our athletic programs,” said Nelson. “In this new role, I look forward to strengthening relationships with our coaches, student-athletes, faculty, staff, alumni, and the communities we serve.”
Nelson also spoke about the personal significance of Minnesota West in his life and career.
“Minnesota West has always been a place that I take great pride in,” he said. “Whether as a student, a community supporter, or an employee, it has always held a special place in my heart. I am excited for the opportunity to help shape the future of Bluejay Athletics and support the next generation of Bluejays.”
