The Associate of Arts Degree is a Liberal Arts transfer degree. While an A.A. degree might include a core of courses appropriate to the transfer track of the major field of Computer Science at the baccalaureate level, its focus is on general education. The Computer Science A.A. program is designed to provide students an option to enter the computer related job market on completion or transfer to Southwest Minnesota State University at Marshall, MN to complete the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree.

- Successful completion of a minimum of 60 semester credits.
- A grade point average of 2.0 ("C") or better.
- A minimum of 40 credits of general education. This fulfills the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC).
- Communications - required ENGL 1101, ENGL 2276 and CMST 1101.
- Critical Thinking: Any student who completes the general education curriculum will have completed the requirements for this goal.
- Natural Science/Mathematical/Logical Reasoning: required MATH 1105.
- History and the Social and Behavioral Sciences.
- The Humanities and Fine Arts.
- Human Diversity.
- Global Perspective.
- Ethical and Civic Responsibility.
- People and the Environment.
- Computer Information Science core: 19 semester credits (Baccalaureate admission requires a 2.50 or higher GPA in core courses, including a minimum of a "B" in CSCI 2250 and a minimum of a "C" in CSCI 2255) (see table below.)
- STSK 1110 Freshman Seminar (1) credit is required.
- One PhEd activity course, 1 credit.
