Test Proctoring

Minnesota West Community & Technical College offers proctoring services in a secure, quiet environment for the following circumstances:
1) students who cannot take a scheduled classroom exam
2) students in online or ITV courses where proctored exams are required
3) students who require alternative testing accommodations due to a documented disability
4) individuals from other colleges or institutions requiring a live test proctor
5) Accuplacer testing
6) GED and CLEP testing (See bottom of page for special instructions regarding these exams)
7) On-campus ACT testing for prospective nursing students. (See bottom of page for registration instructions regarding this exam.)

Scheduling Information

To request test proctoring at Minnesota West, please SELECT THE LOCATION at which you are requesting test proctoring services and then complete the form provided.  Test proctoring sessions must be scheduled at least TWO BUSINESS DAYS in advance. A member of our proctoring staff will follow-up with you regarding your request.

Fees

There is no charge for proctoring for students enrolled at Minnesota West Community & Technical College or other Minnesota State institutions.

Students who are NOT enrolled or who are NOT alumni at Minnesota West Community & Technical College or other Minnesota State institutions will be charged a $20.00 testing fee for each exam (two hour maximum testing time).  Proctoring for non-Minnesota State exams over two hours / up to four hours will be charged a $50.00 testing fee.  Computer settings will not be modified to accommodate a test for an outside agency (non-Minnesota West or non-Minnesota State).  No software will be installed to accommodate a test for an outside agency (non-Minnesota West or non-Minnesota State).

For non-Minnesota West or non-Minnesota State testing, payment may be made in cash or by check payable to Minnesota West Community & Technical College. Campus personnel should submit proctoring fees to their campus business office. If paying cash, EXACT PAYMENT AMOUNT is needed as the proctoring area does not carry change.

GED/CLEP Testing

GED and CLEP testing are available on our Worthington campus ONLY. The GED exam must be scheduled and paid for through the GED website: https://ged.com/about_test/scheduling/. CLEP testing may be scheduled by emailing proctoring@mnwest.edu, or calling 507-372-3476.  HOWEVER, test registration must be completed via https://clep.collegeboard.org/ .

 Test Taker Responsibilities

The student must arrive at the appointment on-time. The student is responsible for notifying the proctor as soon as possible if he or she cannot make the appointment. Students are responsible for providing a photo ID at the time of the exam. No exams will be administered without proper identification. Students should also be aware that electronic devices such as cell phones should be turned off while taking an exam. No backpacks or purses will be allowed during the testing. Test proctors may also have additional requirements based on instructions from the instructor. Should a student not follow the guidelines set forth by the instructor or the guidelines established by the proctor, the proctor has the right to stop an exam.
