Education Paraprofessional, Certificate

This certificate program prepares graduates for employment in a K-12 school district and provides a curriculum that meets the core competencies. The curriculum will provide a career pathway for paraprofessional which will allow them to begin, continue, and enhance their education. The curriculum is organized to move the learner through the selected course work online and through the A.S. Degree.

Child Care Aware of Minnesota

Scholarships are offered to students in the certificate, diploma, and Transfer Pathway A.S. programs. Students who maintain a 3.0 GPA are eligible to apply. Selection is based upon an essay explaining how the scholarship will assist the student achieve his or her career goals. For more information, review: Child Care Aware of Minnesota


NCIC Teacher Pathway Program

The Nobles County Integration Collaborative (NCIC) offers a limited number of scholarships for students enrolled in teacher preperation programs at accredited universities or colleges. 

Who should apply:

• People of color in the NCIC area
• Education students
• Current employees of NCIC districts
• Those committed to teaching in the NCIC area

Eligibility: 
Must have a home address in the NCIC service area or be employed by an NCIC member district. 

NCIC Service Areas:

Adrian, Ellsworth, Fulda, Heron Lake, ­Okabena, Round Lake­, Brewster, Worthington

Southwest Teacher Preperation Partnership Program (SWTPP)
 

The SWTPP is a unique partnership between Worthington School District, Minnesota West Community College, and Southwest Minnesota State University designed to remove barriers to teacher licensure. Students can major in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Teaching English as a Second Language and may receive funding for tuition and books through financial aid and other grant or scholarship opportunities.

Career Opportunities

A paraprofessional provides support and assistance to professionals in various fields, such as education, healthcare, or social services. They typically work under the supervision of licensed or certified professionals, performing tasks such as providing instructional support, assisting with therapy sessions, or aiding in administrative duties.

Daycare employees are responsible for providing a safe, nurturing environment for children while their parents are away, including organizing activities, supervising playtime, and assisting with meal times and basic hygiene. They also communicate with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns that arise during the day.

Nannies provide personalized care for children in a private household setting, attending to their physical, emotional, and developmental needs. Responsibilities typically include preparing meals, organizing activities, assisting with homework, maintaining a safe environment, and occasionally providing transportation.

Private tutors provide one-on-one academic support to students, tailoring lessons to their individual needs and learning styles. They may assist with homework, reinforce concepts covered in school, and prepare students for exams, fostering academic growth and confidence.
