Lady Jay Basketball: Coaching Staff
2017-2018 will mark the third season as head coach of the Lady Jays for former Worthington High School and Worthington Community College Lady Jay star, Rosalie (Moz) Hayenga. After taking over for the legendary coach Mike Fury, Coach Hayenga led the Lady Jays to a 21-7 record in 2016-2017 and a spot in the Region XIII tournament both of the last two years. Under the direction of Coach Fury, she helped lead the Lady Jays to the 1992 State Championship, is the all-time assist leader, and is 6th all-time leading scorer in Lady Jay basketball history. In addition to earning All-State, All-Region and All-American honors, she was named the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) National Player of the Year in 1992. She completed her collegiate playing career at Moorhead State University where she was named to the 1995 All-American team and was also a 2012 Hall of Fame inductee.
Hayenga previously served as the assistant coach for the Lady Jays for 11 years and before that was an assistant basketball coach, women’s softball coach and instructor in the Sport and Recreation Management Program at the University of Minnesota-Crookston. She was also an assistant basketball coach at Moorhead State University. In addition to being the Lady Jays basketball coach, Hayenga serves as Women’s Athletic Director and is an instructor at Minnesota West in the Biology department.
