Bluejay Baseball: Coaching Staff
T. D. Hostikka is entering his 4th season as head men’s baseball coach at Minnesota West. During the 2015-16 season, Minnesota West set a single seaon record for wins with twenty-five. Coaching is not new to T. D. as he was hired to rebuild the Nicollet High School baseball program taking them to the section semi-finals two of his five seasons. He has coached summer baseball with Mankato VFW and Worthington VFW, taking Worthington VFW to the state tournament in 2010 and 2015.
Hostikka earned an M.S. in Mental Health-Human Behavior from Capella University and a post-graduate certificate in Contemporary Addiction Studies, and is competing a Master of Divinity - Practical Theology from Regent University in Virginia. His undergraduate degree is from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington in Social Science. He is licensed by the State of Minnesota as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor and also holds a National Addictions Counseling License.
Pat Robles, new assisant coach this season from Midland, Texas, will be working with pitchers and hitters.
Robles played one year at a Junior College before playing two years at a 4-year University. He signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Twins fall of 2015, but was released in June 2016. He completed the summer playing in an Independent League in Indiana. Robles is a certified personal trainer and has worked with the Driveline throwing program.
Volunteer Assistant Coach
Felipe Valle Giler, new volunteer assistant coach this year from Guayaquil, Ecuador, will work with catchers, corner infielders and hitters. Giler graduated from the University of Guayaquil studying Physical Education and Management. He has an extensive coaching background.
Giler played on the Ecuadorian National Baseball Team from 1990 to 2009, winning the tournament MVP and Best Player at the Position numerous times.
