Email is the official means of communication at Minnesota West. All email communications will be sent to your Minnesota West email account only.
- All students receive a FREE Minnesota West email account. Accounts will be set up within 2 working days of your registration for classes. All you have to do is login.
- Your instructors will use your college email to contact you with class information. They will not use any other personal email accounts (Hotmail, Yahoo, etc) to contact you regarding your courses.
- Be sure to subscribe to your Campus Listserv so that you will get announcements and notices, weather closings, and information about campus activities and events.

Helpful Information:
Username
Your user name is your student (or tech) ID number. Your Student ID Number can be found on your student ID card, your schedule, or on your billing statement. If you are an online student, it is on the letter you were sent when you signed up for online classes.
Password
Your password is your last name. After you have logged into your email, you must change your password to something you will remember.
Create a Sent folder
Before you start using your email, you must set up a Sent Folder.
Create your password challenge questions
You must create challenge questions so that in the future you can do password self service. It is very important that you create these challenge questions before you forget your password.
Using Your Address Books
Search your Address Book for a Minnesota West student's email address or add an email address to your Personal Address book.

Troubleshooting Tips
Google Toolbar, Yahoo Toolbar, MSN Toolbar and any other Pop-up blocker software
If you can successfully login to your student email but are unable to access your email it could be directly related to a Pop-up Blocker on your computer. To remove these Pop-up Blocker programs go to the Control Panel then select to Add/Remove programs. Remove the following programs: Google Toolbar, Yahoo Toolbar, MSN Toolbar and any other Pop-up blocker software loaded on to your computer. If after removing these toolbars you still cannot access your email, contact your campus technician for additional help.
