The curriculum prepares the student for employment as a Phlebotomist/Laboratory Assistant in a hospital, laboratory, or clinic. The training is designed to prepare students to collect specimens, perform venipunctures and dermal punctures, prepare and transport specimens, and perform laboratory computer operations.

Full-time students can complete the academic portions of the program in two semesters. The clinical portion of the program is by arrangement, and completion may vary by student. Successful completion of all required program courses and general education courses with a grade of C or better is necessary to graduate.

Enrollment notes: A physical exam; hepatitis immunization; entrance assessment; and a copy of high school transcript, diploma or GED are all needed for enrollment. Students in the Phlebotomy Technician program will undergo a background study as required by Minnesota Law.
