year of technical training7/16/13

Joe Eickhoff attended Canby Vocational Technical Institute back in 1982 and 1983 and studied the Welding and Sheet Metal Course.

He worked for a short time in southern Minnesota then joined the Navy. While in the Navy he was a welder on the USS Long Beach for 4 years. The Navy took him many places in the world, including Hobart, Tasmania, and Australia where he met his future wife.

After the Navy, he continued to work as a welder and then traveled to Australia to get married. He lived and worked in Montana and Minnesota before immigrating back to Australia, where he now has lived for 20 years and has his own welding business.

In Joe’s 30 year welding career, he has worked 20 years on ships and the boat building industry. One of the highlights of his career was working for a summer at the Australian Antarctica Base Casey Station, where he was the commissioning engineer installing new firefighting systems.
