As of March 30, 2018, over 300 Workforce Development Scholarships have been awarded to students entering Minnesota State colleges. The scholarships, initially funded by a $1 million appropriation from the 2017 Minnesota Legislature, are available to new students entering associate degree, diploma, or certificate programs in high-demand sectors of Minnesota’s economy at any of the 30 Minnesota State community and technical colleges. Programs that qualify for the scholarships are in advanced manufacturing, agriculture, health care services, and information technology. Students who are awarded a scholarship for Fall 2018 semester can be eligible to apply again for a scholarship for Fall 2019 semester if they have completed two academic terms with a minimum of nine credits each and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. The scholarship covers more than half the cost of tuition and fees for the required credits.
