Minnesota West Celebrates Medical Assistants Recognition Week

Minnesota West is celebrating students and alumni during Medical Assistants Recognition Week which is celebrated every year during the third full week in October.

Minnesota West's Medical Assistant program was recently named the #4 Top Medical Assistant programs by edsmart.org the ranking was compiled from IPEDS and the College Navigator, both of which are hosted by the National Center for Education Statistics. The ranking objectively assesses online medical assisting programs according to affordability, academic quality and student satisfaction.

Medical assistants are health professionals who support the work of physicians and other health professionals, usually in a clinic setting. Their responsibilities can include both administrative and clinical duties.

Medical assisting is an allied health profession whose practitioners function as members of the health care delivery team and perform administrative and clinical procedures. With their unique versatility, medical assistants are proving to be the allied health professional of choice for this decade and beyond. In fact, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical assisting continues to be projected as one of the fastest growing occupations.
