Enrollment Continues to Grow

Minnesota West has continued growth in the College enrollment numbers for fall 2017 semester. The College was up 6% in enrollment for the 2017 spring semester marking a two-year high for the College and now the College is up 2.4% for the fall semester, marking another two-year high for the institution.

Dr. Terry Gaalswyk, Minnesota West President, said he is extremely proud of the work the College is doing to attract more students.  “Our College has a spirit of service to students; committed to the students and the communities we serve. We continue to advance the College’s inter-related plans to advance our mission, goals, and opportunities for the future.”

The College is proud of a number of recent highlights that contributed to the College’s success.

  • Health Information Management Program announces candidacy status for Accreditation.
  • Blue to Brown pathway developed in collaboration with SMSU.
  • New class partnership with Worthington High School exposing digital literacy and college success.
  • Cosmetology program ranks #13 for best beauty & cosmetology school by bestcolleges.com.
  • Bus transportation between the Worthington and Jackson campus to decrease the barriers of transportation for students.
  • Reintroduction of carpentry program in partnership with the Pipestone Economic Development and Pipestone High School.
  • Increase of clients and outreach in Farm Business Management and Lamb & Wool.
  • Opening of the $2.55 million Powerline Technology Training Facility.
  • .Newly introduced Career Academies in partnership with local school districts and SWWC.

Minnesota West was named "A Top Online College" for the third year in a row and #1 Community College in Minnesota and #3 Online College nationally by bestcolleges.com. The College has also been recognized three times as a Top 150 Community College by the Aspen Institute, nine times as a Digital Survey winner, and a Military Friendly school since 2014. The College educates over 7,000 students annually from 39 states and 10 countries. Graduation rates are 17% higher than our peers. Minnesota West is also proud that over 80% of our graduates live, work, and contribute to a Minnesota community.
