All-Minnesota Academic Team

Congratulations to Tiffany Gehl and Yuna Kim for being named to the All-Minnesota Academic Team. These students were nominated by staff or faculty to apply for the team.


The All-State Academic Team was introduced nearly 20 years ago to honor and to recognize two-year college students for their leadership, academic achievement, and community and college service. In 1994, state academic teams were introduced as a way to provide scholarships and scholastic recognition to Phi Theta Kappa members while promoting excellence at two-year colleges.


Tiffany Gehl from Fulda, MN is student at Minnesota West, Worthington campus, where she is involved in basketball, volleyball, Student Senate, student ambassadors, theater, choir, work study and serves as the president of Phi Theta Kappa. She has her liberal arts degree from Minnesota West and is working on an independent study program. Tiffany plans to transfer to Southwest Minnesota State University and from there plans to go to graduate school to become a physical therapist.


Yuna Kim from Gimhae, South Korea and is the student at the Minnesota West, Pipestone campus where she has been involved in the Cultural Diversity Group, served as an officer on the Student Senate, and a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Yuna has lived in the United States for the last four years and graduated from Southwest Christian High School in Edgerton, MN. She will be receiving her Pre-Business, A.A. degree in May. She hopes to further her education in the field of business.


Gehl and Kim were recognized at a formal recognition ceremony on April 11, 2014 in Vadnais Heights, MN. The Minnesota West nominees received a medallion during the ceremony. The 2014 All-Minnesota Academic Team consists of 44 outstanding students throughout the state of Minnesota each student representing a Minnesota Community and Technical College.
