Business & Technology:  AutoCAD


Minnesota West's Customized Training Services is offering
an AutoCAD class to provide an introduction to AutoCAD drawing.

With more architects, engineers, suppliers and contractors using AutoCAD for sending or receiving information, the need and expectation for being able to utilize this tool is increasing. Contractors, facilities personnel and production facilities are among those who increasingly are utilizing AutoCAD as part of their day to day operations. This class will benefit those who are considering purchasing a drawing program or are presently using AutoCAD but aren’t very familiar with many of the features.

The objective of this introductory class will be to show the operator how to work with existing files and how to create new AutoCAD files. AutoCAD LT 2004 will be used for this introductory class.


The following are some of the topics to be included in the course content:

  • Understanding the workspace

  • Basic drawing setup

  • Create and edit drawings

  • Basic drawing commands

  • Drawing units and scales

  • Models and layouts

  • Linetypes and layers

  • Dimensioning

  • Coordinate systems

  • Grid and snap controls

  • Templates

  • Print and plot drawings
