Why choose Minnesota West?

You’ve picked the wind industry because you must like working with your hands. Here at Minnesota West approximately 50-60% of your school time will be spent working in the labs. Our instructors have many years of combined work experience in the wind industry, so you know you will be taught using special tools and techniques currently being used in the wind industry in simulated work environments. In addition to your degree, you will receive certificates that will make you more attractive to future employers. Many of the local wind employers award students with scholarships and tuition reimbursement as well as the possibility for summer internships between your 1st and 2nd years.

What can I expect when I graduate Minnesota West?

Because our instructors have real world wind experience they also have real world connections in the industry as well. Because of those connections and the need for knowledgeable technicians, employment is all but guaranteed. Technicians’ right out of school can start at as much as $17/hr. Most wind employers will supplement your ‘on the road’ expenses up to $100/day. With 50-60+ hours per work week. This can really add up!

What if I get my degree and realize wind isn’t for me?

With the experience and skills you gain at Minnesota West in electrical, hydraulics and mechanical, your job possibilities are endless! We have past student employed at billion dollar manufacturing facilities and even a nuclear power plant!
