Note: During the course of the self-study, several changes took place.
Dr. Diane Graber retired.
Dr. Steve Schultz withdrew from the committee to work on his sabbatical projects.
Dr. Ruth Van Heukelom took on half-time administration duties as director of the Associate Degree in nursing program.
Kayla Westra took a leave of absence from faculty to serve as Interim Dean of Technology and Distance Learning.

Subcommittee I – Criterion 1: Mission and Integrity

The organization operates with integrity to ensure the fulfillment of its mission through structures and processes that involve the board, administration, faculty, staff, and students.

Subcommittee 2 – Criterion 2: Preparing for the future
Co-chairs: Lori Voss and Diane Wells
The organization’s allocation of resources and its processes for evaluation and planning demonstrate its capacity to fulfill its mission, improve the quality of its education, and respond to future challenges and opportunities.
CC 2a – Minnesota West realistically prepares for future budgets
Strategic plan, technological advances, demographic trends (population, age, gender, ethnicity, and race), veterans services, “green programs,” campus foundations, budget planning timetables
CC 2b – Resource base
State funds, grants, tuition, current compensation and benefits, professional development/tuition waivers, recognition of achievement, housing, role in economic development of region

Subcommittee 3 – Criterion 3: Student Learning and Effective Teaching

The organization provides evidence of student learning and teaching effectiveness that demonstrates it is fulfilling its educational mission.
CC 3a – Minnesota West’s goals for student learning outcomes are clearly stated for each educational program and make effective assessment possible.

The organization promotes a life of learning for its faculty, administration, staff, and students by fostering and supporting inquiry, creativity, practice, and social responsibility in ways consistent with its mission.
CC 4a – Minnesota West demonstrates, through the actions of its board, administration, students, faculty, and staff, that it values a life of learning
Structure of salary schedule, Professional Development plans, Awards of Excellence, CTL, faculty development funding; faculty participation in regional, national, and international conferences
