Financial Aid Steps for borrowing a Stafford Loan

Federal Stafford On line Loan Process

Note: Completing a loan application is much faster if you have the following information ready.

  • Names and complete addresses of the two people you will use as personal references. One reference should be a parent or guardian if living. References should not have the same address.
  • Your driver's license.
  • Your award letter showing how much you are eligible to borrow.
  • You should do a budget for the academic year and determine ahead of time as closely as possible how much you actually need to borrow. Check out the budget calculator.
  • You will also need your federal Pin Number. If you do not have your pin number visit the Dept. of Education PIN Registration website.

    [Please list your email address on the registration as you should then receive your PIN within three business days. You may file for your Stafford loan once the PIN has been received. If you have previously received your PIN, but have since misplaced it, you may also request that a duplicate PIN be mailed to you from this site]
  • If you are a previous borrower have your lender code available, If you do not know your lender code click here.
  • When you have all needed items proceed.
