Disbursement of Aid
Financial Aid funds are applied toward outstanding balances on your student account. If funds remain after tuition and fees are paid, the remaining funds are prepared in a check for disbursement to the student. By completing your Financial Aid file, you give the College permission to apply your Financial Aid funds toward any unpaid balance you may have.
Disbursement Dates
Net financial aid payment
If financial aid paperwork is complete, your funds will be disbursed on the Net Financial Aid Payment date.
Delayed loan payment
If you are a first time borrower, federal regulations state that your first disbursement cannot be delivered to you for 30 days into your semester.
Midpoint checks
Federal Regulations require that Federal Stafford Loans be disbursed in at least two installments, and no installment will be greater than half the amount of your loan. If you are applying for a loan for just one term, half of your loan roceeds will be sent by your lender to Minnesota West at the beginning of the term and the second half will be sent at midpoint of the term.
