General Student Admission

If you are seeking a certificate, diploma, or degree and have not previously attended a college or university, follow these instructions for General Admissions.

Procedure

  1. Complete the Minnesota West online application for admission.

  2. Send a $20 non-refundable application fee to the campus admissions staff where you are applying. All students must pay a $20 application fee one time only.
    (Active Duty Service Members deployed overseas will have the application fee waived.)

  3. Request your high school forward an official copy of your transcript or GED to the admissions staff at the campus where you are applying. For your convenience, you may print the Transcript Release Form to take/send to your high school.

  4. Apply for financial aid. You will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to determine your eligibility for aid.

  5. After you have been accepted, you will receive a letter detailing the steps you need to follow for assessment, orientation, and registration:

    - Take the assessment test to determine readiness for college-level classes. Students enrolled in a totally online program/degree should note the special section for Online Students. 
    - Talk with a counselor/advisor who will discuss your assessment results and advise you about registering for courses consistent with your present academic level and your program of study.
    - attend an orientation/registration session.


To complete your student file, you must submit the following documents to the admissions staff at the campus you plan to attend. Students enrolled in a totally online program/degree should submit documents to the Worthington campus 

  1. Immunization Record Form
    All students born after 1956 are required by Minnesota Law to provide proof that are vaccinated against diphtheria, tetanus, measles, mumps, and rubella. If you are a student enrolled in a totally online program/degree, contact your online advisor to see if you need to complete this form.

  2. News Release Form
    Complete this form so that the College can release information about you to your designated local newspaper.

  3. Promissory Agreement for Payment
    Read and sign this form which explains your responsibility to pay tuition and fees.

  4. Student Data Information
    Complete this form so that the College has your current student information.

  5. Student Support Form
    Complete this form to help us plan for student support services.


Know Your Rights

Please read the Student Handbook section on Student Data Privacy. This outlines your rights concerning the data in your educational record.

Students will be notified annually of their FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) Rights.
