Weather / Emergency Alerts
Weather and other emergency alerts are sent through the StarAlert system. This system is opt-out, meaning ALL students, staff, and faculty will receive text messages from the StarAlert platform unless they log into the account to make changes and opt-out. To update your profile, please set up your account preferences at https://mnwest.portal.finalsiteconnect.com/. Note that you will receive alerts for ALL of our campuses and centers as a default. Log in and change which alerts you want to receive if needed.
Go to the StarAlert site (https://mnwest.portal.finalsiteconnect.com/) and click Sign Me Up. ONLY Sign up if you are not receiving text messages. If you are a new student, it may take a week or so after classes begin for your account to be set up. The two pieces of information you need are your student email (firstname.lastname@live.mnwest.edu) and your starID (the system will ask for an identification code – this is your StarID).
Do NOT uncheck OUTREACH or you will not get any text messages or emails.
***If you are getting more messages than you want to receive, you can fix this by logging in and changing your subscriptions.
***If this is your first semester attending Minnesota West, you will not be able to sign up for alerts until after the first week of classes.
